Sandra Bullock

Sandra Arnette Bullock was born on July 26, 1964 in Arlington, Virginia USA to German opera singer Helga Meyer and American voice teacher John Bullock.

She started her career as a child singer in the children chorus at her mother's operas and studied ballet as well in Germany.

After graduating from Washington-Lee High School, Bullock attended East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, choosing drama as her major.

However, she left the university before acquiring her degree to move to New York, where she took acting classes and worked as a bartender to earn money for three years.

Later on, Bullock finished her coursework and was awarded a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University.

In 1988 her acting career started with the off-Broadway production of "No Time Flat".

Afterwards, she appeared in director Alan J. Levi’s TV movie "Bionic Showdown: The Six Million Dollar Man and the Bionic Woman" (1989).

After a few television projects, Bullock moved to LA and played a series of small roles in several independent films before she starred in NBC's adaptation of the movie "Working Girl" (1990).

In 1993 Bullock starred in the science fiction-action "Demolition Man" alongside Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes.

Soon after that, the actress starred alongside Keanu Reeves in the 1994 blockbuster "Speed", which won an Academy Award for Best Sound and Best Sound Effects.

In 1995 she starred in the romantic comedy "While You Were Sleeping". The next year she played the female lead in "A Time to Kill”.

Her following projects didn’t do so well and were considered unsuccessful films, such as "In Love and War" (1996), "Two If by Sea" (1996), "A Farewell to Arms" (1996), and the sequel to "Speed," "Speed 2: Cruise Control" (1997).

After she launched her own production company, Fortis Films, Bullock produced and starred in "Hope Floats" and "Practical Magic" (1998).

In 1999 she starred in the romantic comedy "Forces of Nature" opposite Ben Affleck. The following year she starred in “28 Days" and "Miss Congeniality".

She starred in "Murder by Numbers" and "Two Weeks Notice" in 2002 and reprised her role in the "Miss Congeniality" sequel, "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous" in 2005.

In 2009 Bullock produced and starred in "All About Steve" and "The Proposal".

In the same year she also starred in "The Blind Side" and won the award for Best Actress at the 2010 Golden Globes, Academy Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in the film.
